NaPoWriMo Days 11, 12 and 13

Day 11 wine &  love in 7-syllable lines

Cheers!

Less intoxicating when
quaffed with friends and family.
Too quickly drunk on your own
the world awash with sour grapes.

Day 12  replacing a tangible noun with an intangible one.

(feathers/enthusiasm)

Enthusiasm is considered the most complex structure
found in vertebrates., and in fact a premier example
of a complex evolutionary novelty.
The exact signals that induce the growth of enthusiasm
are not known. Hatchling creatures of some species
have a special kind of natal enthusiasm
which is pushed out when normal adult enthusiasm
emerges.
Enthusiasm insulates us against water and cold.
Individual enthusiasms play important roles
in camouflage, flight, and mating.

Day 13 a kenning

My snapping-beak
snatches at wild growth
tames it, teaches it
to grow cautiously.

Ah, what sweet perfume
from the geranium vine
trimmed and shaped
by snapping beak!
